App Store Character Counter

Name, subtitle, keywords and promotional text, all within Apple’s limits.

Preset:App Store listingChange preset

Separate keywords with commas, no spaces needed. Counted in bytes, as Apple does.

Your text never leaves your device. All counting happens in your browser.

About this limit

On the Apple App Store, the app name and subtitle can each be up to 30 characters, the keyword field up to 100 bytes and promotional text up to 170 characters.

How limitpad counts

Each field is counted separately, including spaces and commas. Apple measures keywords in bytes, not characters: plain English letters take 1 byte each, accented letters 2 and Chinese, Japanese or Korean characters 3, so the keyword field holds fewer characters in those languages.

Tips

  • Don’t repeat words from your app name in the keyword field. Apple already indexes them.
  • Use commas without spaces between keywords to save characters.
