About this limit
Many journals and conferences limit abstracts to around 150–300 words. This preset uses 250 words; change it in Settings to match your author guidelines.

How limitpad counts
Words are separated by spaces, so numbers, symbols with letters and hyphenated terms each count as one word by default. Some journals count hyphenated terms as two; switch the hyphen rule in Settings if yours does.
Tips
- Cover background, methods, results and conclusion in roughly that order.
- Lead with the main finding in the results sentence, with numbers where possible.
Frequently asked questions
- Do keywords count toward the abstract word limit?
- Usually not, but check your author guidelines. Leave keywords out of this box if they are entered separately.
